The Gospel

The word GOSPEL means "Good News"!

To understand why it is good news, we must start with the bad news.

"For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard." Romans 3:23

"For the wages of sin is death, ..." Romans 6:23

We are sinners and deserve eternal judgment from God. There is nothing we can do to remove our own sin.

Here comes the good news - Jesus came to remove our sin and give us eternal life instead of judgment.

"But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners." Romans 5:8

"...but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23

So what must we do to receive this free gift?

"If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved." Romans 10:9-10

Can I know for sure that I am saved? YES!

"For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:13
